This is a new model pedal steel from Excel entitled ROBOSTAR. It has a some what industrial and perhap robotic appearance with so much of the innards exposed form the back. Mine has the
changer mounted on the top deck. There is a least one version of this guitar that I've seen that has the changer mounted below the deck with the tuning adjustments accessed from the top.
I ordered this guitar on 09/19/23 and it was delivered to my house on 11/31/23. That's 42 calendar days from order to delivery so pretty fast! This is the second guitar that I've ordered from Excel and all bank transfers and shipping went smoothly. I've also ordered many parts for another Excel guitar I bought used and all inquiry emails and deliveries went well there. Currently I own four pedal steels, this one, an MSA Legend D-10, an Excel S-12 with D13 tuning and a Sierra S-12 with D13 tuning. These are all premium top of the line steel guitars but with different advantages to each. The Sierra is perhaps the Cadillac of steels but who can argue with how cool the MSA LFrets and aura lights look and super light weight and advanced changer in the Excels not to mention that great vlaue. Keyed versus keyless and player preferences may sway you to one brandover the other. I am elated with all these guitars! Links to my other pedal steels :

Factory pictures from Mitsuo. My solution to store guitar cases and make more efficient use of my garage overhead space. I don't keep any of my guitars in cases! They are all out ready to play. I bought these racks from Costcoa and they are 8' wide amd 4' deep and hold up to 600 pounds. All items are covered with stretch wrap done by hand to keep them clean. Some pictures of my guitars together so you can see the relative heights and sizes. There are quite a few pictures below. Click on them to see them full size or at least sized to a browser window. Click on the picture again if needed to zoom in even more! Comments? email webmaster Greg
